We have listed on this page a few important things that the mover should take into account.
- Goods should be packed in moving boxes or closed, sturdy boxes. Many discount stores sell inexpensive moving boxes, but there is a problem with their durability. The boxes in question are usually simple cardboard, while the boxes used by Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri are strong, thick and at least quadruple cardboard. The quality of our moving boxes allows us to reuse them. You can also buy moving boxes and other packing supplies for professional use at an affordable price.
- Moving boxes must not be packed too full, because then they cannot be stacked on top of each other in the moving truck, i.e. to save space.
- Moving boxes must not be packed too heavy. The box must be portable by one man. If cardboard boxes have been used, their transfer resistance must be taken into account (that e.g. the bottoms do not open).
- Clothes and textiles can be packed in sturdy plastic bags (e.g. garbage bags), so they don’t get dirty. The clothes can be packed in a garbage bag with hangers, making it easy to unload them into the closets. ”Hanger boxes” are also available through us, where hanging clothes can be easily and neatly transported.
- Fragile goods must be carefully packed and protected even when moving boxes are used. Boxes containing breakable goods must be clearly marked, e.g. with the text ”breakable”.
- Order the boxes well in advance so that everything is already packed when our moving truck arrives.
- On the boxes and things, it is good to mark the room of the target apartment where you want the box / item to be placed again to avoid moving it (e.g. living room / bedroom, etc.). Similarly, the boxes can be marked with numbers, in which case the rooms in the target apartment must also be clearly marked with the same numbers.
- If you need the help of the movers to remove lights, washing machines, etc. equipment, it is good to inform them in advance so that the movers can reserve the necessary tools with them.
- If there are particularly heavy items in the moving load (e.g. that famous piano), let us know in advance so that we can be prepared / equipped for its transfer.
- Reserve a place for the moving truck as close as possible to the apartment. If necessary, mark the space requirement well in advance for the other residents of the house, so that the place is not used for parking, for example. If you are not sure about the parking possibilities for the moving vehicle, please let us know in time so that we can try to figure it out.
- Also notify other residents if, for example, the elevator has to be used during the move. Let us know in time if you need to get a separate moving lift for the moving place.
Moving to or from abroad
Moving to or from abroad is easy when you use the professional services of Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri. We always tailor moves on a case-by-case basis, so that moving to or from abroad goes as smoothly as possible.
Moving to or from abroad could not be easier. When, for example, moving to Europe is imminent, you must notify the registrar of your move abroad. Moving abroad requires you to notify Kela of your move as well. Your right to Finnish social security usually remains during your stay abroad. Take this into account if you are planning to move abroad.
When you are abroad, your social security can be affected, for example, by starting studies or working. Always notify Kela of changes in circumstances. Moving to Europe for work gives you the right to be covered by social security in your country of employment, even if the work lasts less than a year. Moving to or from Europe and transporting art and valuables are our main areas of business.
