GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF MUUTTOPALVELU M. KÄHÄRI 01.01.2025
1. Scope of application
These terms and conditions apply to the services provided by Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri to its customers both in Finland and abroad.
2. Services and work performance
2.1 Assignments
- Assignments include all work in which Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri or its subcontractor has provided the customer with transportation/moving services or moving materials.
2.2 Cancellation of assignment
- For domestic moves, the customer has the right to cancel the order free of charge up to 7 days before the agreed service date. Otherwise, Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri has the right to charge 30% of the agreed service price.
- For international moves, the customer has the right to cancel the order up to 14 days before the agreed service date. Otherwise, Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri has the right to charge 30% of the agreed service price.
2.3 Force Majeure
- Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri must immediately inform the customer of any force majeure event.
- A force majeure event entitles both the customer and Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri to withdraw from the assignment, provided that the customer is obligated to pay for any work already performed. Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri is not required to compensate the customer for any costs arising from a force majeure event.
2.4 If the work performed deviates significantly from what was agreed verbally or in writing—for example, if the amount of goods is larger than stated or if the customer requests additional work outside the original order—Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri has the right to charge separately for such work.
2.5 Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri is not obligated to perform furniture disassembly/assembly, electrical work, or plumbing work (e.g., disconnecting/connecting lamps or washing machines) unless specifically agreed.
2.6 The transport of safes, pianos, and other particularly heavy items must always be agreed separately with Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri.
3. Claims and liability
3.1 If the customer’s property is damaged during the work performed by Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri, the customer must submit a written claim within 14 days. Failure to do so releases Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri from liability.
3.2 The customer must clearly demonstrate the damage that occurred and caused the goods or property to be harmed. Failure to do so releases Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri from liability.
3.3
All transports performed by Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri include transport liability insurance as defined by the Finnish Road Transport Contract Act.
Compensation is limited to:

€20/kg for domestic transport

8.33 SDR/kg for international transport
calculated per missing/damaged kilogram of the total weight of the goods.
(SDR is a monetary unit based on a basket of currencies used as a calculation standard.)
The customer may supplement coverage by taking out an additional cargo insurance policy.
3.4 Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri is not liable for electronic damages such as destruction of software/files, or damages resulting from disconnecting or installing cables and similar issues.
3.5
Liability may be reduced or excluded if damage is shown to have resulted from:

Inadequate packing/protection of items or premises in which the work is carried out. Packing/protection is the customer’s responsibility unless otherwise agreed.

No visible external damage caused to an electronic device during the assignment.

Items that are particularly sensitive to temperature or humidity changes (e.g., plants).

Poor condition or improper assembly of the items preventing their normal handling and transport.
3.6 Liability does not cover sentimental value, indirect damages, or consequential losses.
4. Storage services
4.1 Storage includes all situations where Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri and the customer have agreed to store goods in Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri’s facilities.
4.2 The following may not be stored: hazardous or harmful substances, items sensitive to temperature changes (e.g., plants, delicate artworks).
4.3 If the invoiced storage fee remains unpaid for more than one month, Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri has the right to terminate the storage agreement.
4.4 Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri is not obligated to release stored goods if storage fees are unpaid. If storage fees cannot be collected, Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri has the right to sell the unclaimed goods.
5. Invoicing terms
5.1 Storage services are invoiced monthly or according to the agreement.
5.2 If the assignment includes interim storage, at least 50% of the moving invoice must be paid immediately when the interim storage begins.
5.3 Work is primarily invoiced after completion. The payment term is 7 days unless otherwise agreed. Late-payment interest follows the rate set by the Bank of Finland.
5.4 If the paying party has a recorded credit default, Muuttopalvelu M. Kähäri may require advance payment for the work.
